Leifur Breidfjord

Works in Churches

Stained glass is the centre of Leifur's work. He was the first Icelandic artist to specialise in the medium and the first to set up a studio for it, insisting from the outset on unique works rather than editions. His windows are found in churches and public buildings across Iceland and abroad — among them the Robert Burns memorial window at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh (1985), and a window at Southwark Cathedral, London, marking the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (2012).
